Does Banana Republic think its shoppers are exhibitionists?
I admit, I shop a lot at Banana Republic. I shop there so much, I’ve even earned the Luxe card which really means I shop there too much. When I go there I notice that most of the shoppers are like myself (if I ignore all the studio assistants that seem to be shopping for wardrobe for one show or another). We are pretty much a diverse group of females in our twenties and thirties who tend to dress conservatively but fashionably. Now, for some reason lately, Banana Republic has interpreted this to mean that we are all exhibitionists who like to wear flimsy tops that are see-through. Whether it’s t-shirts, tanks or sweaters woven from Mongolian goat yarn, the stuff is designed to show the world your bra style and color. Even if I get super sneaky on them and wear a nude bra, I can still see my belt and pants through the tops. What gives?
