Babble On, Twitter, Babble On

A new study by Pear Analytics of San Antonio, Texas was pounced on by the anti-twitter crowd to say ‘see! This Twitter business is a waste of time and complete nonsense’.  Those same opponents probably also never attend any parties – I’m sure the ‘drivel’ quotient is also pretty significant.  It’s precisely when we open ourselves up to interactions not driven by a specific intent that we can potentially learn something we wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to.  Twitter is like being in a room full of thousands of simultaneous conversations that you can hone in on or ignore at will.  Twitter presents unique opportunities to ‘eavesdrop’ on conversations you might not ordinarily hear and potentially benefit from.  It’s how  I found out that my recently purchased Macbook Pro is eligible for the $9.95 Snow Leopard upgrade instead of the $29.95 price.  It’s how I knew the ten fire trucks gathered at the end of the street were there for a house fire and that, fortunately, there were no injuries.  So I say, “Babble on, Twitter, babble on”.
